Staying in corporate housing is an ideal option for employees who need to relocate for a relatively short amount of time since it’s a more comfortable and less expensive option. Though a stay in corporate housing rentals is indeed temporary, it’s still an important move and you do need to prepare well for it.
Since corporate housing units are usually furnished apartments for rent, you probably won’t need to bring a lot of things with you; however, they won’t provide everything you need. The average length of a stay in corporate housing in 2012 was 88 days, which is a pretty long time. Here are a few things you’ll need to bring with you for a more comfortable stay.
1. Personal Hygiene Items
The unit will likely provide you with towels and things, but you’ll need to bring your own personal hygiene items. Bring enough shampoo, soaps, and things like q-tips and cotton balls, since those probably won’t be provided for you in the rental. Other personal care items like curling irons and items of that nature should be brought as well.
2. Tech Accessories
Though corporate housing rentals will come standard with a landline for phone service, television, and internet access, they don’t offer much else in the way of technology. Don’t expect a laptop or desktop computer in the unit, so bring anything you’re going to need. Don’t forget chargers and any connecting wires.
3. Touches of Home
Though you’re going to be staying in temporary housing, it’s important to bring a couple of touches of home with you to make the place a little more cozy. Chances are, you’re going to be spending quite a bit of time in your new digs, so bring a few little things with you like pictures of family or a house plant to make things a little more like home.
